When the light goes out...

So, I've been thinking about this whole blogging thing and I've decided that the most interesting ones to read are written by people who have something original to say. Obviously, right?? In that spirit, I've decided to try to write something original for once. Aside from writing an original thought, I'd love to say something that might make you think about something in a way you never thought of it before.

You know who is the king of putting things in a way that I never thought of before... John Mayer. Hold your laughter, I know a lot of people think he's lame, but I personally think he's kind of genius. He has a creative way of illustrating things. Maybe five years or so ago during a concert, he was talking through a scenario about those times when you're maybe a little bored (or a little tipsy) and you start scrolling through the contacts in your cellphone. You get to a number you stop on it. Then you sit there so long contemplating whether to push "call" that the light on your phone goes out. (Seriously, who cannot relate to that? Everyone has done that once or twice.) So, you push the button to make the number light up again and either you eventually talk yourself out of calling and just close your phone or you take the plunge and push "call". He was about to sing "Back to You" and he was talking about second and third and into the tens of chances. That's where his story ended.

So what's the point you ask... the point is that I think you're sitting there staring at the phone for a reason. Either you're afraid of the person's reaction to you or you know you're gonna probably regret calling. What if it was someone you just met recently and that person could really mean something to you only you never get to find out because every time you open your phone to call them you just sit there staring at the number and talking yourself out of calling? On the other hand, who hasn't been a little dial friendly after a night out and maybe chosen to push "call" when they probably shouldn't have; maybe you called an ex or someone you know isn't good for you. Next time you're staring at a number and the light goes out... think about it. Do you take a chance or do you decide that the light went out for a reason?

Today's Song of the Day was...

Before it's Too Late
Goo Goo Dolls

Great lyrics... "And the risk that might break you is the one that would save. A life you don't live is still lost. So stand on the edge with me, hold back your fear and see nothing is real 'til it's gone."
